Long term residents look upon the Ranches Restaurant, located within the Golf Club, the go to place for a relaxed meal and local week end eat place for the family. The restaurant has survived over 20 years with a combination of tenacity and resident loyalty, braving the cyclical nature of its standing from amazing, to mediocre. One can only look at the Ranches Restaurant much like a long term relationship which usually has awesome days and then once in a while the odd bad day creeps in. 

The food choices are well thought out with a broad appeal to different tastes; the king prawns, the butter chicken and the steaks being staple favorites. There have been the odd hiccups; like when a Caesar salad arrived with only lettuce and nothing else. The quality of the french fries usually are an indication of the mood of the chef, and yet the prawns and the butter chicken can be assuredly consistent in quality.

While Emaar, who own the complex, approach staffing with a peculiar casualness, what the restaurant achieves is a handful of staff who carry the whole dining experience to a new level. It overcomes the fact that some of the staff cannot even speak english, because somehow this casual eat place carries it all over the line.

Pros.

  • Some star dishes that remain favorites even after 20 years.
  • Brilliant on site management.
  • Casual atmosphere with ample seating.   
Cons.

  • There have been a few occasions of untrained staff.
  • On a bad day the food offering can be below par.
Overall the Ranches Restaurant is a well recommended place and should be on the list of go to places. Do not expect the dazzle of a five star location, even though the prices may be comparable, but it makes the experience a pleasurable outing.

Crescendo Brunch @ Anantara The Palm Jumeirah DXB

 Dubai, as a destination, is known for the overwhelming offers for brunch experiences. An exploration of all that is on offer will take years to fathom and discern. Nevertheless, there are some experiences which immediately appeal not only to the taste buds, but also the who range of senses. Fogo de Chao Brazilian Steak House

 If you are a meat lover then Fogo de Chao is the experience you must have. Located at the Central Park Towers in DIFC Dubai, the restaurant offers a churrasco offering of various cuts of beef, lamb and chicken brought to your table. Having experienced the original offering in Dallas Texas, one had an idea on what to expect and perhaps gauge against. In terms of Dubai’s food offerings Fogo de Chao does stand out as a nonsense meat lovers spot to be at.
